Yes. A house clean can usually go ahead while you work from home. The visit simply needs a little planning around calls, room access and the noisy parts of the job.
Tell me where you will be working and whether you have any fixed meetings. I can then start in another part of the house, leave the home office until a suitable break, or keep that room outside the agreed scope for the day.
How to make a work-from-home clean run smoothly
Share your call schedule before the visit
You do not need to send me your full diary. A simple note such as “I have calls from 10 until 11.30” is enough to plan the noisy work around you.
Vacuuming is usually the main interruption. If you have an important meeting, I can work through the kitchen or bathrooms first and vacuum once the call has finished. If your schedule changes during the visit, a quick update is more useful than trying to work through the noise.
Decide what should happen in the home office
Some customers want the office cleaned as part of every visit. Others prefer to keep the door closed while they work and have that room left for another day.
Either approach is fine, provided it is agreed before I reach the room. If you want the office included, let me know when there will be a suitable break so I can dust accessible surfaces, vacuum the floor and mop it if required. Moving into another room for a short period is usually easier than stopping and restarting several times.
Keep confidential and delicate items clear
A working office may contain client papers, financial documents, cables and sensitive equipment. I will not sort paperwork or move important electronics simply to clean underneath them.
If you want a desk surface cleaned, put confidential papers away and clear the section you want me to reach. If equipment should not be touched, say so. This protects your work and avoids guessing about items that may be valuable or arranged for a reason.
Plan the route through the house
A cleaner needs to move between rooms, carry equipment and finish floors without people repeatedly walking across wet areas.
Tell me which room you will use and whether you need regular access to the kitchen, bathroom or front door. I can often complete the rooms you are not using first, then work around your break times. If you need to move between rooms, a quick warning helps me avoid blocking a doorway with equipment.
The same applies when two people are working from home. It may be practical to clean one office while the other is occupied, then swap when the timing suits.
Pets still need a clear plan
Being home does not automatically solve the pet question. A dog may be relaxed beside your desk but become interested when a vacuum starts or a door opens.
Let me know where the pet will stay and whether any door or gate must remain closed. The arrangement should keep the animal comfortable without stopping access to the rooms included in the clean.
You do not need to supervise the cleaning
Working from home can make it tempting to give instructions as each room is reached. That usually makes the visit harder for both of us.
A short conversation at the beginning is better. Point out the main priorities, any room that must wait and anything that has changed since the last visit. You can then return to work while I follow the agreed plan.
If you notice something important during the visit, tell me. The aim is not to avoid communication; it is to keep it clear and useful rather than turning the clean into a running commentary.
Regular visits make the routine easier
The first work-from-home appointment often teaches us the best order for the property. I learn when the office is usually free, which bathroom can be completed during calls and when it is practical to vacuum.
With regular weekly or fortnightly cleaning, that routine becomes familiar. You should not need to explain the same schedule and household priorities from the beginning every time, especially when the same cleaner returns.
What if you need complete quiet?
If your day involves interviews, presentations or back-to-back calls, it may be better to choose another time rather than force the cleaning around an unrealistic schedule.
A quieter task can sometimes be completed while you are speaking, but a whole-house clean cannot be silent. Being honest about the day protects the quality of the clean and your ability to work.
